Name Checker
How does your Chinese name sound to a Chinese ear?
Enter an existing Chinese name. We will show the pronunciation, character meanings, common homophone risks, and whether the name appears in our corpus.
What we check
The checker looks at the sound of the full name, the meaning of each character, the gender impression, common Mandarin homophones, famous-name collisions, and whether the name appears in our curated corpus. It also gives practical notes on how people will address you.
The result is a reading, not a verdict on your identity. A name can be unusual and still be good. A name can be common and still be wrong for you. Use the checks to start a conversation with a Chinese speaker, not to replace one.
What this build does not check
- Cantonese and other regional homophones are not enabled yet. We only flag the curated Mandarin list in this build.
- The celebrity and brand list is curated, not exhaustive. “No collision found” does not mean the name is unique.
- We do not check trademark registrations or official name registration.
- We do not assign a score. A name is not a test you pass.
Privacy
Checked names are not saved to a public result page. The server may keep short-lived logs for security, but we do not publish or sell the name you enter. If you want a shareable result, use the Finder, which creates a result link from your English first name and preferences.
